Anything!
From baseball gloves to cell phones, pets to laptops, camping gear to hubcaps, anything that you don't want to lose can be protected.
You have three options:
- 1) Print labels for free using your printer. Once you register an item we will provide you with label templates in a variety of sizes.
- 2) Make your own. You can sew the ID into your favorite sweater, use a permanent marker on your USB hard drive or get creative and do it any way you like.
- 3) Visit The Store where you can get our durable, weather-proof vinyl labels.
You will be notified via email that your item has
been found. You can communicate with the finder via
SendMeHome's private messaging service to arrange
it's return. If any shipping is required we suggest
you offer to pay the bill.
We protect your privacy in two ways. First, we will never give your contact information to
third parties or send you spam.
See our complete privacy policy and terms of use here.
Secondly, all communication through SendMeHome is
anonymous. This allows private and confidential
conversation with the person who finds your
valuable.
You are completely in control of when and how
you disclose personal information.
SendMeHome is primarily for lost and misplaced items but we also help deter theft.
Law enforcement officials say that a marked item reduces "opportunistic" or casual theft, in which an item has been left unattended or is easy to steal.
An item with a SendMeHome ID, especially one that is applied in a more permanent fashion such as engraving or embroidering, is harder to resell.
SendMeHome provides a record of who the rightful owner is so that disputed and recovered property can be
easily returned.
No. Your SendMeHome ID that protects your valuable will only be removed from SendMeHome.com if you manually delete it.
No. Take it off if you'd like, although you might
regret it!
However, if you would like something a little more permanent, you can have your SendMeHome ID engraved onto your belonging through our partnership with LazerDesigns. See their store for details.
SendMeHome has a built in transfer system. The new
owner can simply go through our normal registration
process. We will detect that you own the item and
send you an email asking if you'd like to transfer
the item into their account. Easy!
Yes and No.
Each SendMeHome ID is intended for a unique physical item, so you can't put the same SendMeHome ID on both your cell phone and your laptop. This is done so we know exactly which one of your valuables is being reported found.
However, if you sell, give away, or throw away your item and want to reuse its SendMeHome ID for another one of your valuables you can certainly do that. Just remove the SendMeHome label before you get rid of the old item, put the ID on the new item and then update the details to reflect the new item.

If you would like to give a reward to the person who returns your valuable you can enter an amount. If you leave the
field at 0, no reward will be mentioned. This used as both an incentive for finders and a way for you to reward the kindness of strangers.
Yes. SendMeHome is a global system and can be used

A SendMeHome ID has three, dash separated, sections.
The first section represents the person or organization who registers the item. If an individual registers an item their SendMeHome IDs will begin with a letter. For example, each of the items that our first user registers will be given a SendMeHome ID beginning with the letter 'A'. If an organization registers an item, it will begin with a number. For example, all of our professional labels that you can buy from The Store will start with the number '1'.
The second section of a SendMeHome ID is used to identify each user's distinct items. When our first user registers her first item it will receive the ID 'A-1'. Her second item will receive 'A-2' etc. This same style is applied for both individuals and organizations, but organizations may also have letters in their second section.
The third section is optional for our lost-and-found system. You'll only see it if you purchase professional labels from The Store or buy something that already has a SendMeHome ID embedded.
